The National Alumnae Association of Spelman College (NAASC) is the official organization that supports Spelman College, a historically black college for women, through financial gifts, student recruitment, sisterhood, community service, and recognition of Spelman women. The Association provides, encourages and promotes growth and development of alumnae through leadership opportunities and partnership alliances. NAASC actively seeks to involve all former students and graduates in the fulfillment of its purpose.In carrying out the direction of NAASC, the Northeast Region is committed to maintaining extraordinary sisterhood and service. The sisterhood among Spelman alumnae is far-reaching and transcends generations, traditions and continents. Many extraordinary stories of friendship, love and commitment exist among Spelman sisters and the Northeast Region is committed to sharing and celebrating these bonds in all that we do.Our mission is to unite and promote collaboration, partnership and information exchange among NAASC chapters throughout Connecticut, Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New England, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Virginia.​

NAASC Sermon at Silverlake Cemetery - In honor of Spelman College's 142nd Founders Day

Silver Lake Cemetery

On Saturday, April 15, 2023, at 10:00 am Spelman College alumnae and friends are invited to attend this commemorative annual event at Silver Lake Cemetery, Silver Lake Street in Athol, MA.This year's celebration will feature a "NAASC Sermon at Silver Lake "featuring alumna <a href="https://www.qu.edu/faculty-and-staff/christina-dickerson/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dr. Christina M. Dickerson</a>, C'2004 delivering an inspiring Founders Day message. With Founders Day fast approaching, let us remember those two undaunted New Englanders who founded our phenomenal institution. We look forward to celebrating their life and legacy every year in April. The Northeast Region is the birthplace of our two dynamic founders, so it’s fitting that Spelman alumna near and far join us as we celebrate Sophia Packard and Harriet Giles is a unique and intimate way. After the wreath laying ceremony, there will be a reception at <a href="https://www.athollibrary.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Athol Public Library</a>, 568 Main Street, Athol, MA. Please RSVP your attendance using the Eventbrite link below.Suggested Attire: White Dress/Black Shoes or beautiful Spelman Blue! Please wear comfortable shoes to walk the cemetery grounds. This is an outdoor event, rain or shine, so please plan accordingly.
