Note: This (second) Earthian Folk Dance performance takes place at the Camera Obscura. For those who can't make this date, DaEun Jung's third and final Earthians performance has moved from April 6 to <A HREF="https://www.eventbrite.com/e/earthian-folk-dance-performance-workshop-with-daeun-jung-at-the-pier-tickets-56532285588" TARGET="_blank" REL="noopener noreferrer">April 13</A>, and the location for that final event is now the far west end of the Santa Monica Pier. 
View an in-progress excerpt from Camera Obscura Art Lab Studio Resident DaEun Jung's residency project, Earthian Folk Dance, and contribute your own movement to the development of the EFD movement vocabulary. Earthian Folk Dance is a communal activity created and performed by Earthians based on the concept of a group dance that reconciles folk, social, and virtuosic dance forms for all inhabitants of our planet.
The project arose from DaEun Jung’s ongoing investigation into the principles and methods of Korean folk dance and the potential for physical amity between participants of diverse backgrounds. EFD celebrates team spirit and bodily exhilaration, and challenges the tropes of both post-modern choreography and traditional folk dance.
DaEun Jung is a dance maker, dancer, and dance teacher. Rooted in her Korean dance and cultural background, DaEun’s work reveals her past and present body memories, and redefines the principles and movement vocabulary of Korean folk dance in inter/multi-cultural settings. Her works have been presented at art and community venues including Electric Lodge, Highways, REDCAT and the Korean Cultural Center in Los Angeles. DaEun has been awarded artist-in-residencies from Dance Resource Center at KYCC Menlo Center, Show Box LA at We Live in Space, and Los Angeles Performance Practice at Automata. She has also worked as a guest choreographer at Santa Monica College. She received an MFA in Dance from the UCLA World Arts and Cultures/Dance Department and the Westfield Emerging Artist Award. DaEun has worked with Victoria Marks (LA), Milka Djordjevich (LA), Ros Warby (Australia), Wilfried Souly (Burkina Faso), Jeanine Durning (New York), Shahar Biniamini (Israel), Melinda Ring (New York), and Won Kim (France).
At the Camera (1/9/19 – 4/17/19,) she is developing an 'Earthian Folk Dance,' and presenting <A HREF="https://apm.activecommunities.com/santamonicarecreation/Activity_Search?detailskeyword=daeun" TARGET="_blank" DATA-MSYS-CLICKTRACK="0" REL="nofollow noopener noreferrer">weekly opportunities</A> to explore rhythm and movement through cultural exploration, participatory dance, and communal awareness between neighbors.
At the Santa Monica Pier she is performing her final residency performance of Earthian Folk Dance at the far west end of the Pier on Saturday 4/13/19 at 3pm.

Directions: The Camera Obscura Art Lab is at 1450 Ocean Ave on the west side of Ocean just north of Broadway. By Metro - 4th St. Santa Monica Downtown stop, walk two blocks west to Ocean and 1.5 blocks north from the Pier entrance. Parking is $6 or less for 3 hours in Parking Structure 6 (2nd between Broadway and Santa Monica), and $5 on weekends at the Civic Auditorium lot just down Main Street at 333 Civic Center Dr. Meters on Ocean Avenue; $2/hr maximum 3 hours.
