The Austin Group Psychotherapy Society is an interdisciplinary organization of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and counselors who share a mutual commitment to continuing professional development and to excellence in the practice of group psychotherapy.Over the past decade, the Austin Group Psychotherapy Society (AGPS) has gained national recognition for the quality of our training opportunities and the warmth and enthusiasm of our members.AGPS trainings and social events are designed to mentor new professionals and students, expand the knowledge and clinical skills of all members, and enrich and rejuvenate established practitioners.

<H2>Sunday Night Diversity Dialogue An AGPS Quarterly Book/Film/Discussion Group Every BODY in Group: Creating a More Inclusive Space for All Bodies </H2>

The AGPS Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity Committee will host an enlivening evening discussion surrounding the diversity of body size and body abilities in group psychotherapy. Facilitated by Neathery Thurmond, LCSW, CGP, the dialogue will provide a brief didactic on the concept of Health at Every Size.  Participants will have the opportunity to explore their own weight biases and will learn how to manage weight bias in group. The dialogue will also include exploration of visible and invisible abilities and the ethical importance of accessibility to care. Participants will be supported in building skills to facilitate groups rooted in body respect.
Non-alcoholic beverages and light snacks will be offered.
Charge:  There is no charge for this event.
