Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s is bringing its alt-art party to the home of NYC neo-burlesque, Coney Island USA. The original NYC Drink &amp; Draw, Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s was originated in 2005 when Molly Crabapple combined life-drawing, new-wave cabaret, and an atmosphere of joyful, boozy conviviality. Featuring burlesque performances, live art models and art games -- as well as beer and wine from the WORLD FAMOUS FREAK BAR -- Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s is a warm, welcoming environment for solo artists, or groups of friends to make art for a chance to win some prizes! Boards, paper, pencils and art supplies will be provided, but you&#x27;re welcome to bring any media you prefer!Our September theme is SATURDAY MORNING CARTOONS -- and your art teacher and host, Rita N. Wink, is bringing some of her LOONIEST, TOONIEST models for performances and poses inspired by your favorite animated characters.B﻿ring your super-friends (or arch-nemeses) for an afternoon of universe-colliding, canon-confouding, 3-D exploration of 2-D nostalgia that will smudge the fine line between celebration and desecration.Doors open at 12:30. Drawing starts at 1pm.

Artists draw glamorous underground performers in an atmosphere of boozy conviviality. Founded in 2005 in a dive bar in Brooklyn, Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s has now spread to over 100 cities around the world.•WHO STARTED DR. SKETCHY&#x27;S?Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s was founded in 2005 by artists Molly Crabapple and A.V. Phibes. It&#x27;s been run solely by Molly Crabapple (and her cadre of awesome helpers) since early &#x27;06. WHAT ARE ART MONKEYS?Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s is a corrupt Viennese doctor of our invention. Anti-Art School we chose because we were bad art students. &quot;Art Monkey&quot; was nicked from a late night we spent building steel weasels with New York&#x27;s legendary Madagascar institute.•WHO GOES TO DR. SKETCHY&#x27;S?Lots of people. Fancy pants gallery artists, art students, dog walkers, jewelry designers, tattoo artists, illustrators and cubicle slaves. We have about 40% non-professional artists. Slightly more girls attend than boys.•DO I HAVE TO BE AN ARTIST TO ATTEND DR. SKETCHY&#x27;S?No. Lots of people who have never drawn before attend Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s. We&#x27;re a fun, non-judgmental environment to try your hand at drawing.•DO SERIOUS ARTISTS GO TO DR. SKETCHY&#x27;S?Yes, including world famous ones like Ron English, Alasdair Grey and Audrey Kawasaki. While we are accepting of non-artists, there&#x27;s no reason you can&#x27;t go to Dr. Sketchy&#x27;s to seriously get your draw on.•HEY, WHY ISN&#x27;T THE MODEL NAKED?! I THOUGHT THIS WAS A DRAWING CLASS?Many cities have laws against combining booze and nudity. Besides, our models show more than enough pectoralis major and latissimus dorsi.•I&#x27;M ONLY 18. CAN I COME TO DR. SKETCHY&#x27;S?YES! This event happens in Coney Island USA”s newest venue space ~ The Annex!-﻿---Wink &amp; a Smile Productions is teaming up with Dr. Sketchy’s to bring you the most fun sketching event here in NYC! And where better to do that then Coney Island USA. Drinks will be available at the Freak Bar, and we will be in the new arts venue in the Coney Island Annex.
