The Richmond District office is responsible for the delivery of SBA programs and services to 92 counties in Virginia (excluding the counties of Arlington, Fairfax and Loudoun, and cities of Alexandria, Fairfax and Falls Church which are served by ourWashington, D.C. District Office). The Richmond District office is located in the Federal Building, Suite 1150, 400 North 8th Street, Richmond, Virginia 23219. SBA/USDA Collaborative on Value Added Program through Rural Development and how it can grow your business and then participate in exporting.

Farmers and ranchers, are you interested in taking your operation to the next level with value-added product? If so, the Value Added Producer Grant Program (VAPG) may be right for you! The VAPG is an excellent financing resource as it provides grant funds for economic planning activities or eligible working capital expenses. Funding enables viable agricultural producers to develop businesses that produce and market value-added products and to create marketing opportunities for such businesses. Laurette Tucker serves as a Rural Business Specialist for USDA Rural Development. In this capacity she conducts marketing, processing, and servicing activities for the programs and services of the Rural Business-Cooperative Programs division. More specifically, she provides these duties for the Value-Added Producer Grant, Socially Disadvantaged Group Grant, Rural Cooperative Development Grant, Rural Energy for America Program, and the Advanced Biofuel Payment Programs. She received her formal education at Virginia Commonwealth University.And USDA client Anita Roberson, will present on her experience with the Value Added ProgramAnita Roberson of Botanical Bites &amp; Provisions, LLCBotanical Bites &amp; Provisions, LLC is a ten-acre certified naturally grown farm, nestled in Spotsylvania County (just outside of Fredericksburg, Virginia). Farmer Anita Roberson’s work is a labor of love reflecting a passion for healthy living. On the farm this Army veteran dedicates her farming practice to producing naturally grown, flavorful vegetables, herbs, fruits, apiary products, and cut flowers…all free of pesticides, preservatives, and herbicides by applying agricultural best practices to assure that her farm products develop naturally in three high tunnels, several fields, and in a small apiary. Her value-added producer’s grant focuses on transforming herbal products, beeswax, and honey from her beehives into handcrafted natural cosmetics (lip balms, salves, soaps, and lotions) which she sells locally through her on-farm-marketplace and farm stands throughout the state.
