NEW DATE for the update on the Japantown Cultural Heritage, Housing, and Economic Sustainability Strategy (CHHESS) at this virtual meeting

NEW DATE: Thursday, February 16, 2023.This virtual event is organized by the Japantown Task Force. After a two-year delay due to the COVID pandemic, the Japantown Cultural Heritage, Housing, and Economic Sustainability Strategy (CHHESS) is ready for community review before heading to the San Francisco Board of Supervisors for approval. In 2018, Japantown became the first designated Cultural District in San Francisco, and the 2013 Japantown Cultural Heritage and Economic Sustainability Strategy (JCHESS) became the blueprint for strategies developed by other cultural districts, now numbering 10 city-wide. In 2019, the City began to fund Cultural Districts and asked each district to develop a CHHESS document (with the addition of Housing). The draft document will be available for review and download at the Japantown Cultural District website and the Japantown Task Force website.
