TheWomen's Leadership and Resource Center(WLRC) andCampus Advocacy Network(CAN) at the University of Illinois Chicago works to increase awareness of and affirm the diverse needs of woman-identified persons in higher education; provide opportunities to learn about the histories of and contemporary issues in feminist movements, activism, and scholarship, especially as they relate to white supremacy, ableism, heterosexism, transphobia, wealth inequality, et al; and promote gender equity, anti-violence, inclusion, and social justice on campus and in the larger society and world.

Are you a woman-identifying student in Business or STEM looking to build connections and community at UIC? The Women’s Leadership and Resource Center invites you to join our new Affinity Group!This month, we&#x27;re focusing on Self-Love and Self-Advocacy! A major theme of our January conversation was the pressure to prove our worth in male-dominated STEM and Business classes and workplaces. Join us this month for an activity and discussion about changing the ways we&#x27;re perceived in those spaces, as well as some fun Valentine-inspired crafts to remind ourselves of the love and care we deserve.All UIC undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who identify as women and are majoring or interested in STEM and business fields are invited!. . .About WLRC&#x27;s Affinity Groups:WLRC’s Affinity Groups provide students who share an identity or professional interest space to gather, discuss shared experiences, support each other through challenges, and affirm and celebrate their communities. Each group meets once a month and is facilitated by WLRC staff.We recognize that these groups encompass broad populations that will have some shared experiences as well as many varied and unique cultures and histories. Our goal is to create spaces for us to celebrate these differences while building solidarity and support for each other.
