GetSmART! Learning Series: The Art of Crowdfunding

The Arkansas Arts Council, an agency of Arkansas Heritage, a division of the Department of Parks, Heritage and Tourism. The Arkansas Arts Council expands cultural and educational opportunities by investing in Arkansas museums, theaters, symphonies and other providers of artistic programming. The Arts Council provides funding for artist residencies in schools and after-school/summer programs through its Arts in Education program. By administering federal, state and private funds and providing technical and financial assistance to arts organizations, schools and artists, the Arkansas Arts Council helps ensure that the arts will continue to enrich the lives of all Arkansans for generations to come.

Is it time to find ways to fund your art project by yourself? Join artist Sean Fitzgibbon to learn the ins and outs of funding your art project through platforms such as Kickstarter. Learn what crowdfunding is and what it isn’t; discover the pros and cons of using online fundraising platforms; and find ways to drum up a network of supporters to see you through. Fitzgibbon will walk participants through his thought process for how he decided to crowdfund, his failures and his successes, and his journey to publishing a successful, historical graphic novel about The Crescent Hotel in Eureka Springs. About Sean Fitzgibbon Sean Fitzgibbon of Fayetteville explores unusual, real places and events through his work. He has a Master of Fine Arts in art and has exhibited work throughout the U.S. He has a passion for making art and visual storytelling. His work explores the interconnectivity of the world, and he hopes his audience experiences the same admiration for our diverse yet kindred existence. Fitzgibbon was recognized with an Artist 360 grant in 2021 and the Individual Artist Fellowship award in 2022. He is the illustrator and author of the nonfiction, graphic novel, “What Follows
