The Nááts’íilid Initiative is an indigenous-led, coalition-driven 501-c3 Community Development Collaborative established in 2021 in Chilchinbeto, Dennehotso and Kayenta Chapters of Dinétah (Navajo Nation).  Our mission is to strengthen the cultural and economic resilience of Dinétah through self-reliance initiatives in the built environment.

Want to learn more about renewable solar energy, how it works, how it's used and more?<a href="https://www.naatsiilid.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Nááts’íilid Initiative</a> in partnership with <a href="https://www.nativerenewables.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Native Renewables</a> will host an "Intro to Solar Energy' webinar on Monday February 13th, 2023 at 9:00 am. This webinar, presented by Native Renewables Workforce &amp; Education Manager, Deb Tewa, will provide an overview about how solar energy works, Off-grid vs. Grid-Tied, overview of Off-Grid Solar PV system, Workforce Development/Training, plus learn how to design your own Off-Grid System with a Solar Energy Load Analysis activity. The webinar should last up to one hour. This free webinar is aimed at homeowners and others who are relatively new to solar and are considering investing in solar in the future.Native Renewable’s website contains many resources surrounding solar, how it works, and more. <a href="https://www.nativerenewables.org/solar-education/resources/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Click for details. </a> Instructor: Deb Tewa, Native Renewables Workforce &amp; Education ManagerDebby Tewa is a member of the Hopi tribe and is from Hotevilla, AZ. She is also the owner/president of Tewa Energy Service, LLC. She provides technical trainings on photovoltaics and residential electrical in the form of hands-on workshops. In addition, Tewa conducts STEM activities for grades 4th – 12th grades. Tewa has over 35 years in the electrical trade industry. She was previously employed with the Arizona Energy Office as a Tribal Energy Coordinator. Tewa was instrumental in setting up and extensive photovoltaic lab at Central Arizona College where she taught both beginning and advance Photovoltaics classes. She is the recipient of the 2021 American Indian Science and Engineering Society Professional Award for Indigenous Excellence.A﻿BOUT NATIVE RENEWABLESNative Renewables was founded in 2016 to bring solar power to 15,000 homes on the Navajo reservation. Their mission is to empower Native American families to achieve energy independence by growing renewable energy capacity and affordable access to off-grid power. Native Renewable's vision is to not only to provide solar power to homes on the Navajo and Hopi reservations that are “off the grid” but also educate Native communities about solar and renewable energy.
