Our 2023 lecture series is focused on the critical issue of Housing. There are a myriad of causes but what is clear is there is simply not enough housing-both affordable and market-rate.

Community leaders in public office, planning, housing advocacy and project development come together in a moderated panel discussion identifying needs, roadblocks and finding solutions and ways forward to build more housing in our area. Introduction by Monterey County Supervisor Mary Adams; moderated by Erik Dyar, AIA Monterey Bay Program Chair, and Justin Pauly, AIA Monterey Bay Past President.Panelists:Kim Cole, Community Development Director, City of MontereyMichael DeLapa, Executive Director, LandWatch Monterey CountySibley Simon, Partner at Workbench, a Design/Build/Development company in Santa Cruz; President of New Way Home, a non-profit impact investment fund to spur more workforce and affordable housing developmentRoxanne Wilson, Homeless Services Director, Monterey CountyKathryn Avila, Avila ConstructionIn addition, numerous special guests from politics, government, development, and advocacy will attend and take part in the discussion.
