T﻿he media and publishing world can be daunting and mysterious! That&#x27;s why I&#x27;ve been running drop-in advice sessions for emerging and early-career writers. It’s very low-key: just an hour-long video chat where you can turn up and ask me anything you like about writing and editing. Think of it as a service desk for all the questions your job agency or career counsellor can&#x27;t answer.The Suburban Review have kindly sponsored this group session, so I can offer 10 spots free of charge, with priority going to First Nations, POC, trans and disabled writers. Register your interest here and I will be in touch to confirm your place if one is available for you.About the presenter: Jinghua QianJinghua Qian is a Shanghainese-Melburnian media maker often found worrying about race, resistance, art, desire, queerness and the Chinese diaspora. Ey has been a performance poet, a radio broadcaster, a television reporter, and an arts critic. As a reporter and later Head of News at Sixth Tone, an English-language media outlet in Shanghai, Jinghua shaped the publication’s influential coverage of contemporary China. Since returning to Australia, Jinghua has written for The Guardian, The Saturday Paper, Sydney Morning Herald, Overland, Meanjin, and many other Australian and international publications, and written and presented for ABC TV&#x27;s China Tonight. Eir work has been recognised by the Society of Publishers in Asia (SOPA) Awards in 2017 and 2018. Jinghua lives in Melbourne&#x27;s west on the land of the Kulin Nations.
