<p>Join us Thursday, February 16th at our Madison Heights location for our SociaLight Mixer of the year! </p><p>This time we are partnering with Viscor to offer a CEU on &quot;<strong>Creating an Ideal Surgical Workspace with Light&quot;.</strong></p><p>There will be two sessions of the class so be sure to choose a time slot when you register. Even if you don&#x27;t come for the class, we&#x27;ll have networking along with drinks and food!</p><h2></h2><h2>SCHEDULE</h2><p><strong>3-4pm:</strong> Course Session One</p><p><strong>4-7:30pm: </strong>Drinks, Food &amp; Networking</p><p><strong>5-6pm:</strong> Course Session Two</p><h2></h2><h2>COURSE GOALS</h2><ul><li>Understand lighting requirements &amp; metrics of a surgical suite. </li></ul><ul><li>Learn how to adapt the lighting system to address physiological visual deficiencies inherent to surgical procedures to improve acuity, reduce eye strain and fatigue of the surgical team to provide better outcomes for patients.</li></ul><ul><li>Understand new medical technologies impact on the surgical lighting system. Identify the unexpected hazards created by the new technology and ways to avoid potential interference the lighting system may introduce.</li></ul><ul><li>Identify the non-visual impact of the lighting system and the role it can play in protecting patient health and outcomes.</li></ul><h2></h2><h2>WHAT YOU&#x27;LL GET</h2><p>Upon completion of the 1-hour course, you&#x27;ll qualify to receive (1) AIA/CES LU (HSW). You&#x27;ll  also receive a certificate of completion to use in self-reporting continuing education activities.</p><h2></h2><h2>ABOUT THE SPEAKER</h2><p>Tim Stevens is serving as the director of product management with Certolux, a brand of Leviton Lighting Canada. </p><p>His engineering career began at Underwriters Laboratories, specifically evaluating hundreds of manufacturers’ lighting and medical products.  This has provided a foundation for three decades of engineering, product management, and development work with Juno, Fail Safe, Kurtzon and Kenall before joining Leviton Lighting Canada.  </p><p>Tim has developed cleanroom lighting for the James Webb Space Telescope assembly, Centaur rocket fueling center as well as numerous university medical and research laboratories.    </p><p>He has an extensive, hands-on background in lighting for medical, cleanroom, and technical industrial applications and is a member of IES and the IEST (Institute for Environmental Sciences and Technology).  </p>
