​Artistic Directorand“virtuoso extraordinaire,”Leonardo Suarez Paz, creates across cultures and genres, continuing a family legacy of over 100 years in the genre, beginning with Gabino Ezeiza to Fernando Suarez Paz who was instrumental in creating the Nuevo Tango alongside Piazzolla, the Argentine-born and New York raised composer whose centennial we are celebrating.  Following in the footsteps of his mentors Astor Piazzolla and Horacio Ferrer, Leonardo“shows us how easily we can communicate across cultures if the desire and effort are there.”(Wynton Marsalis, Artistic Director Jazz at Lincoln Center)Directors Leonardo & Olga Suarez Paz are currently the Dean's Artists-In-Residence at NYU.PIAZZOLLA  100is unprecedented in format and takes place in New York City  a city of great importance for Tango from Carlos Gardel in the 1930s to Astor Piazzolla.  Throughout the year of Piazzolla's centennial, we offered diverse programs including a chamber music program, multidisciplinary shows, art exhibits,  film screenings, a literary night, and a series of master classes and lectures, bringing together top artists from all disciplines who form a part of the genre's renewal and highlights the importance of women in post Piazzolla Nuevo Tango.  We offer a touring format of PIAZZOLLA 100 worldwide "El Nuevo Tango"  which in 2022 took place at the "Sala Ballena Azul" at the Centro Cultural Kirchner in Buenos Aires, Argentina in March, closing the Piazzolla Centennial cycle. For us, this marks a new century of Tango and its evolution and we are thrilled to share the legacy, innovation, and creativity that this artistic language has to offer with as many audiences as possible.

Demonstrating Nuevo Tango as a contemporary art form  across all disciplines while emphasizing its  evolution and relationship to Jazz, Contemporary Classical and popular genres, fostering the creation of new works and cross cultural collaborations.

The tango class takes place each Monday (MARCH 13 - APRIL 3) from 6:30-8 PM, in a historic chapel. The session is for singles and couples of any age and ability, taught by master teachers, Leonardo &amp; Olga Suarez Paz, directors of <a href="https://www.suarezpaztango.com/piazzolla-100.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">PIAZZOLLA 100</a> and Suarez Paz Tango, <a href="https://web.archive.org/web/20120502024318/http://www.anacdeltango.org.ar/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Official Representatives of Academia Nacional Del Tango</a>, one of 16 Government Academies in Argentina and the <a href="https://www.nyu.edu/about/news-publications/news/2022/september/author-georgina-kleege-and-tango-artists-leonardo-and-olga-suare.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Dean's Artists-In-Residence at NYU for the 2022-23 academic year.</a>Tango is much more than a collection of steps, in the words of our dear friend and mentor, the poet Horacio Ferrer, "Tango (is) - An Entire Culture." This course is about learning to connect with one another, learning about music &amp; etiquette, culture, and history through the dance of Argentine Tango. The 4-week course is designed to prepare everyone for the dance floor in a positive, friendly environment where you can make new friendships or spend time with your partner and friends. Couples of all ages and genders are welcome here. Children are welcome to come and join our "drawing table,"while parents are dancing but please remember to confirm if you have children attending! ABOUT THE TEACHERS:Maestro Leonardo Suarez Paz is an award-winning, 4th generation Tango artist, who starred in all significant shows as prepare you a dancer and violin soloist, including The Mariano Mores Show, Tangox2, Perfumes de Tango, and soloist for Tango Argentino and Forever Tango on Broadway, among many others. Olga Suarez Paz directs Nuevo Tango Ballet and has been featured as a tango dancer and soloist in the world's top venues including Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts and Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, Centro Cultural Kirchner in Buenos Aires, and many others. Together they lead the award-winning, multidisciplinary organization <a href="https://www.suarezpaztango.com/piazzolla-100.html" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Leonardo Suarez Paz's PIAZZOLLA 100. </a>CLASS INFO:You don't need dance shoes but please do wear comfortable, flexible shoes with a soft sole of suede, leather, or similar. Children are welcome to attend and enjoy our "children's drawing table" at no extra cost. All drawing supplies for children are provided! This guided activity is conducted by vusial artist and sculptor Carlo Guarini. For more supervised classes for children, stay tuned to our "PAINT the MUSIC" workshops.REFUND POLICY:Classes are fully refundable if any cancellation occurs on the part of the organizer, otherwise, classes are non-refundable once purchased. You may transfer class registration to another person or couple if unable to attend.
