Inaugural free-to-attend Conference hosted by the School of Leadership and Management at Arden University.

Digital technologies are being utilised in higher education institutions (HEIs) of learning, but a gap is yet to be filled. Today's University leaders and faculties must reconsider higher education in a digital-dominated new world, especially after the COVID pandemic reshaped the world economy. Since the global shutdown until the worldwide reopening, HEIs are striving to learn from environmental challenges, what and how they can contribute to society, specifically in enhancing the existing traditional educational approaches to teaching and learning and traditional corporate approaches to running a business or an economy. Moreover, it is also a new challenge that how digital transformation can be applied as a sustainable evolutionary process, especially for HEIs' education models and local businesses' operational processes, these aspects are requested to be adopted quickly and efficiently.In this context, the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4 requires that education providers “Ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.” While Principle 1 of UNPRME challenges HEIs to “…develop the capabilities of students to be future generators of sustainable value for business and society at large and to work for an inclusive and sustainable global economy.”PSRBs acknowledge the need for embedding digital transformation and sustainability in the core curriculum, which is reflected in the QAA Subject Benchmark Statements of Business and Management covering UG and PG programmes. Thus, HEIs are increasingly under pressure to form partnerships with students, external industry corporations, alumni, researchers and the local communities to develop new innovative knowledge transfer initiatives from more sustainable practices that benefit society, the environment and the economy.Underpinned by the above UN goals and principles, the conference seeks to address the following overarching question:“In the advent of digital technologies, how should we reconceptualise, redesign and reconfigure educational and business practices to produce green- and digital first-ready graduates, business leaders and society?”This conference presents a platform for academics and practitioners to explore and challenge the role HEIs play in sustainable development and digital transformation. We invite contributors to interrogate the application and practices of sustainability and digital transformation by academics and practitioners from the UK regions.

A﻿ims of the ConferenceThis conference is mainly concerned with calling attention to and facilitating a collaborative response from academics and practitioners to the below-highlighted challenges:1. A significant influence is raised to local communities and HEIs which requests both to take actions for tackling issues of sustainability climate change. As HEIs, it is imperative to address sustainability to support the development of stakeholder and HEIs' relationships.2. Digital transformation in the HEIs has implied the involvement of sustainable management to adapt to the changes imposed by new technologies. However, the dark side of digital transformation in the learning experience, such as the ethical use of data, is increasing the need for management mechanisms in HEIs. Further, there is a need for strategic support and reference models to be developed.3. As the key part of HEIs' stakeholders, SMEs must invest in environmental measures; HEIs, which work closely with industry, should help businesses to adopt various sustainable measures. However, how do SMEs receive supports and adapt efficiently?

Supply chain diversification, digital transformation and sustainability.Theme 4: Entrepreneurship &amp; SMEs 1. Sustainable Innovation &amp; Digital Transformation in SMEs2. Creativity and Leadership of Entrepreneurship in SMEs3. Inflation and supply chain disruption in SMEs
