Canarsie Beach Cleanup

NYC H2O’s mission is to inspire and educate New Yorkers of all ages to learn about, enjoy and protect their city’s local water ecology. Through providing public and school programs at historic reservoirs, parklands, watersheds, bays, rivers, and wetlands, we encourage diverse citizens to advocate for responsible public policy. Our activities promote science-based knowledge of New York’s local ecosystems and of what is needed for urban water resilience in a time when climate change impact continues to escalate.

Join NYC H2O  and City Council District 46 at the Canarsie Beach Cleanup!

Canarsie Pier

Please join us along with CM Mercedes Narcisse&#x27;s office for a volunteer cleanup at Canarsie Beach in Brooklyn!This once small fishing village saw its population boom after WWII and at one time was a major competitor to Coney Island. The Pier and beach remain a hotspot for fishing, paddling and picnics. Located within the Jamaica Bay Unit of Gateway National Recreation Area, Canarsie Beach and salt marsh also remain hotspots for marine wildlife and birds.The cleanup will run from 10 am to 12 pm. Gloves, garbage bags and pickers will be provided. Please wear sunscreen and bring plenty of water to stay hydrated. 💧 Thanks to Council Member Mercedes Narcisse for supporting our environmental stewardship programs.
