Revolutionary Speaker Series: Archaeology and Preservation

The Brandywine Battlefield Park is a 52 acre park with a Visitor's Center, which houses a museum of Revolutionary War artifacts, a museum shop, and an orientation theater; two historic houses - one acting at General George Washington's Headquarters and the other home to a prominent Quaker farmer; and a blacksmith's shop.The Visitor's Center is climate controlled.  WIFI access is available.  Exhibits, an orientation video, tours of the historic homes, special programs, and a museum store are the highlights.

<p>This illustrated lecture offers an overview of the current national and regional efforts for investigating and safeguarding Revolutionary War battlefields and military sites. From the Chesapeake Bay and the Delaware River to the Mohawk Valley, Catts will discuss battlefields, fortifications, encampments, and landscapes, focusing on the exciting new studies of the Brandywine Battlefield.  Catts will look at the history, archaeology, and preservation efforts at these important places, and discuss some of the new interpretations that the renewed interest in these sites is creating as we gear up for America’s semiquincentennial.</p>
