Athens Main Street is a non-profit organization dedicated to the revitalization of downtown Athens.MissionThe mission of Athens Main Street is to enhance downtown vibrancy, preserve its historic charm, empower its community of business owners, and foster a center of activity for the community.VisionAthens Main Street’s sole focus is the success of downtown Athens. What does our vision of a successful, strong downtown look like?  First, we want to draw people into our downtown with exciting and diverse events and promotions. Second, when they arrive, we want to provide unique experiences, vibrant places to explore, shops with one-of-a-kind merchandise, and a variety of restaurants that tempt the palate.  Third, we want to make it easy and enjoyable for them to get from place to place in a pedestrian-friendly atmosphere.  Lastly, we want to provide all these amenities in a beautiful historic small-town America setting with genuine, gracious hospitality.  If all these come together, we have thriving businesses, increasing property values, and a strong core that will be the heart of our community.

Do you love all things chocolate? If so, you will not want to miss Athens Main Street’s popular Chocolate Walk in February!The Chocolate Walk will take place on February 4, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.This is a ticketed event which serves as a fundraiser for the non-profit organization. All of the chocolate on the walk has been donated by participating downtown businesses. The self-guided event will start at the Athens Main Street Office (107 N. Jefferson St), where ticket holders will get a list of participating businesses and their bag to collect their chocolate goodies.
