Signature cocktail specials, heavy appetizers throughout the evening, live music by Brian Congdon, hobby horse racing, lawn games, derby hat parade and costume contest, the famous "Hold Your Horses" game, silent auction, late night DJ karaoke, THE KENTUCKY DERBY, and FUN in the spirit of the SE Polk RAMS!

5:00pm: Cocktail hour featuring the classic Mint Julep, a Kentuckitini or an Old Fashion. Guests can view and bid on silent auction items, enter the raffle, play Hold Your Horses, take pics with the photo booth, play lawn games, and mingle.

5:45pm: Race Time: Hold on to your hats and gather around the big screen to watch the “most exciting two minutes in sports”! All other event features will pause for the viewing of the 2024 Kentucky Derby.

6:00pm: Hobby Horse Race followed by the 2024 Hat Parade. The 2024 Grand Marshall will preside over all events and decide winners with local celebrity judges. Trophies will be given to winners! Dress up and show up!

All proceeds raised will go to the local non-profit Swerve Outreach, who supports our community by providing At-Risk and underserved SE Polk Students with healthy meals; learning, enrichment, and youth sports opportunities; back to school supplies, and basic needs assistance.

Frequently asked questions

How much are tickets

Tickets are $50/person or $400 for a table of 8 people. If you want a table together, just let us know who is coming and we will reserve it for you.

Do I have to dress up and wear a hat?

No, but you would probably have more fun if you did. We have contests and trophies for "Best Derby Style", "Best Hat" and "Best In Show" for guests who get all gussied up and get down and derby with us. As we like to say, "Big Hats, Big Fun!"

Other than watching the Kentucky Derby, what else is there to do?

Yay! It's your first time. In addition to the "most exciting two minutes in sports" we also have hobby horse races, lawn games, an interactive photo booth, silent auction, live music, and karaoke. And don't forget to bring some extra cash so you can get in on the famous "Hold Your Horses" Game.

What exactly is this a fundraiser for? Where does my money go?

Proceeds from the WGAR Kentucky Derby Party go to Swerve Outreach, a local non-profit that provides assistance to kids in the SEP Community and Eastern Polk County. They make sure local kids have access to food, basic needs, educational, athletic opportunities, and more. Helping them helps kids.
