Learning for Justice seeks to uphold the mission of the Southern Poverty Law Center: to be a catalyst for racial justice in the South and beyond, working in partnership with communities to dismantle white supremacy, strengthen intersectional movements and advance the human rights of all people.Since our founding as Teaching Tolerance in 1991, we have had a strong foundation of providing educational resources, and we are building on that foundation with expanded engagement opportunities for communities, especially in the South.Our free educational resources—articles, guides, lessons, films, webinars, frameworks and more—help foster shared learning and reflection for educators, young people, caregivers and all community members. Learning for Justice

Become  familiar with strategies that educators and students can use to speak up to bias and injustice instead of remain silent.

Description: When educators or students witness instances of bias and injustice, they often don’t know what to do. This interactive, virtual professional development will introduce participants to Learning for Justice strategies that educators and students can use to speak up instead of remain silent. This session is ninety minutes and delivered via Zoom.Once you purchase your ticket, you will receive an email with a registration link. Once you formally register you will be emailed the actual Zoom link used to access the PD session.Objective: Participants will learn how to use the four speak up strategies to speak up against bias and injustice.Topics: Speak Up At School strategies and scenario practiceThis workshop is open only to K-12 educators. Participants may include:<ul><li>Current K–12 teachers, administrators and counselors.</li><li>Pre-service K-12 teachers.</li><li>Educators who teach or coach K–12 teachers, administrators and counselors.</li></ul>Additional Information:<ul><li>The session will be conducted via the Zoom platform with closed captioning. No special equipment is required other than a stable internet connection and a web camera.</li><li>Once you purchase your ticket, you will receive an email with a registration link. Once you formally register you will be emailed the actual Zoom link used to access the PD session.</li><li>The program starts promptly and runs for 90 minutes.</li><li>Space is limited. You must purchase a ticket on this website to reserve your spot!</li><li>The registration fee must be paid by credit card. Unfortunately, we cannot process checks, purchase orders, or cash payments.</li><li>Learning for Justice will issue certificates of completion for participants who attend the full session.</li></ul>
