It is our pleasure to invite you to the opening exhibition “Art Saves Ecology -- From Ink Painting to Ecological Restoration: Zhu Renmin's Studio and Land Art” at the Zhu Renmin Silicon Valley Art Museum on September 23rd (Sunday) 3:00 pm as an honorable guest at ArtEco Museum in  Sunnyvale.
      Born in the coastal province of Zhejiang as the grandson of the eminent ink painter Pan Tianshou, Zhu Renmin has won China’s highest awards for artistic achievement. As a pioneer and early practitioner in the eco-landscape design field, Zhu Renmin is the director of the Research Center for Ecological Restoration at Zhejiang University. He was Dean and research director of the Landscape and Architecture Design Institute at the China Academy of Art in the 1990’s. 
     From the Chinese tradition of ink shanshui painting to ecological restoration, Chinese artist Zhu Renmin applies his unique art-based approach and puts his experience and mastery of literature, painting, sculpture, and calligraphy at the service of saving the environment, cultural heritage and spiritual awareness of our time.
     As Shanshui ink painting allows an aesthetic experience of landscapes ands unity with nature, Zhu turns to architecture and landscape design as an ultimate form to practice his art and philosophy.  His work has made significant impact on the built environment and urban planning in modern China, completing nearly RMB 100 billion worth of restoration projects.
    Zhu moved his art out of the ivory tower so that the public may enjoy and use it. He brought traditional Chinese painting into contemporary arenas and expanded its use to design plans and architectural projects.
ArtEco Museum will display more than 40 paintings and illustrations of a number of Zhu’s land art projects which have had a great impact on the landscape and ecology of modern China, representing Zhu’s achievements through half a century.

ArtEco博物馆敬邀您出席“硅谷朱仁民艺术馆”开幕式暨“艺术拯救生态 - 从水墨到生态修复：朱仁民的架上艺术和大地艺术”。
 
朱仁民出生于中国浙江省，是潘天寿的亲外孙，现为中国浙江大学生态修复研究中心主任、教授。曾获中国艺术成就最高奖项。
 
1990年代，他担任中国美术学院风景建筑设计研究院院长。作为生态景观设计领域的先驱和早期实践者，他率先创导“用艺术拯救生态”的理念，建立和实践“心灵生态、自然生态、艺术生态”理论，将自己谙熟的文学、书画、雕塑、禅宗等文化以其最宽口径的艺术手法用于拯救破坏的环境、文化遗产和当代精神，独创了这个时代崭新的艺术表现手法，带领艺术走出象牙塔，倡导这个时代的艺术家应承担更重大的社会责任。
 
他将传统水墨的体验融入大自然之中，耗时三十多年在被人类破坏的荒沙、荒岛、荒滩、裸崖、湿地、运河等典型地貌，用艺术的手段艰苦卓绝完成了近千亿人民币投入的工程量，对现代中国的建筑环境和城市规划产生了重大影响。
 
如今朱仁民艺术馆的开幕将带来他生态修复和40多幅水墨作品的汇报，这些作品代表了朱仁民半个世纪哲学和艺术的思考。
