Ascoltiamo un album- Fabrizio de André, Non al denaro non all&#x27;amore né al cielo (1971)In 1915, the American poet Edgar Lee Masters published Spoon River Anthology, a collection of epitaphs written in verse, which narrate the lives of the deceased residents of an imaginary Middle-American village. In 1943, a young Italian student, Fernanda Pivano –soon to introduce Italian readers to postwar American literature– fell in love with this work. She translated and published it, defying fascist censorship. In 1970, the songwriter Fabrizio De André started composing songs inspired by this beautiful work, and in 1971 the album Non al denaro non all&#x27;amore né al cielo was released.
