You may recall or be aware that the YMCA of Middle Tennessee and Nashville’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities formed an Alliance in 2019 for the purpose of working toward a financially sustainable future for the Northwest YMCA. Throughout the pandemic, the Alliance partners have continued to collaborate to meet community needs and pursue alternative funding sources in support of the YMCA’s operation, but managing the Covid-19 crisis admittedly slowed the launch of some of the work initially contemplated by the Alliance partners. As the institutions have begun to reactivate these efforts, they recognize the need to ensure community voice is not only represented, but also reflective of current needs, which may have changed during the pandemic and since the last series of dialog sessions held in 2018.As such, the Northwest YMCA-HBCU Alliance invite members in the community to take part in a second series of Community Dialog Sessions in February and March of 2023. The goal for these sessions is to better understand community needs, concerns and hopes, in order to inform the future work of the YMCA-HBCU Alliance as it strives to build a sustainable future for a community treasure.
