No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. If you are opposed to sharing your lovely face let is know and we'll do our best to avoid that. But by using an event ticket you agree to let The Hive share your image in photo, audio, and video.)

Click here to join today.</a></p><h2>Chanting Together as a Spiritual Practice</h2><h3>Domains: Contemplative Practice, Healing Work</h3><p> <em>&quot;Chanting moves us out of our head and into our heart.&quot; - </em>Cynthia Bourgeault</p><p>Sufi wisdom says that chant is the bridge between sound and silence. In our time together, we will learn and sing chants and simple songs from various traditions. Singing in a repetitive style makes it easy to learn the songs without reading words or notes, allowing us to have a more embodied experience. Science has shown that chanting triggers the release of endorphins and hormones responsible for feelings of joy and love, and communal chanting even synchronizes our heartbeats, so that they beat as one!</p><p>We are made to sing – the way wolves and whales and frogs are made to sing. Together we will create musical vibrations to nourish and connect our spirits – with each other and with the divine within us.</p><p>Each session will end with a time of silent meditation.</p><p><em>“Chanting is at the heart of all sacred traditions worldwide…. Because to make music, you must engage those three core elements out of which the earth was fashioned and through which all spiritual transformation happens: Breath – Vibration – Intentionality.”</em> - Cynthia Bourgeault, The Wisdom of Jesus</p><p>Paulette is a recording artist and long-time singer/songwriter for peace, justice and the earth. She is a member of MUSE, Cincinnati Women’s Choir, and has sung with Shelley Graff&#x27;s group, &quot;Women Singing in Sacred Circle” as well as the local Threshold Choir. She has taught and led chanting at Quaker centers throughout the US and Great Britain, as well as at Wisdom School retreats with Cynthia Bourgeault, author and teacher of the contemplative Christian and Wisdom traditions. Paulette has recorded two Quaker chant albums: Timeless Quaker Wisdom in Plainsong and Wellsprings of Life: Quaker Wisdom in Chant. </p><p>Please Note: If you are feeling cautious about singing with others, there are a variety of singer’s masks available through the internet. One that has been used with good results by a member of the Hive Lead Team is the RESONANCE-95 Mask.</p><h3>Covid Considerations: Masks are currently optional at the Hive. Individuals may choose to wear a mask for personal protection, and as always, we ask anyone who is feeling sick or has a high temperature to not attend until they are recovered.
