No more trying to be mindful alone.The Hive exists to develop creative, compassionate, and mindfully-engaged citizens in the Cincinnati region through small group classes and workshops. We have curated a collective of proven teachers, facilitators, and spiritual directors to help guide your learning in mindfulness, contemplation, art and action. We hope you'll try a class and like it enough to become a regular member. Your partnership helps make this nonprofit possible.(As a social enterprise, the Hive shares our story with photos of classes and events. Click here to join today.</a></p><h2>Living Beautifully: Exploring the Three Commitments</h2><h3>Domains: Contemplative Practice, Collective Action</h3><p>Do you enjoy being read to, whether by a professional narrator or perhaps by your partner, friend, or even your child? Are you curious about or attracted to the Tibetan Buddhist approach to “the fundamental ambiguity of being human?” If you answered yes (or even maybe!) to these questions, then please consider joining this online course. Facilitator Niki Pappas will read Pema Chödrön’s beautiful book, Living Beautifully with Uncertainty and Change, out loud, and participants will reflect on its teachings in breakouts and group discussion. (And she’s very open to sharing the reading role with interested class participants, too!) Between weekly meetings, all will experiment with the ideas and practices offered, and come back together to share insights and experiences.</p><p>Niki has offered read-aloud courses before with happy results – one on Simone de Beauvoir’s philosophy on aging, and another on a Buddhist approach to weight management – and she is excited to offer this course featuring Chödrön’s Living Beautifully to the Hive community. Participants are not required to purchase the book though they may well want to for reference and refreshment!</p><p>Niki Pappas has been part of the Hive community since May 2018 when she facilitated a course on the second half of life. She’s since then facilitated a wide variety of courses and participated in many more, co-created the long-running second half cohort, and served on the Lead Team as Membership &amp; Operations Director. Niki is passionate about care and compassion, for oneself and for others. Her current work encompasses body, mind, heart, and spirit, including yoga teaching, bodywork, holistic wellness guidance, and enneagram teaching.
