"Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is located on the subtropical barrier island of Sanibelandis world famous for spectacular migratory bird populations and wildlife viewing.In addition to the continued protection and management of this pristine land,the J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge prioritizes meaningful community engagement (both on Sanibel and in the greater SWFL area).

Join a Refuge Ranger as we work together to clean up debris from J.N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge.

Want to help clean up the mess left behind by Hurricane Ian? We do too! Join a Refuge Ranger on Wednesday to start gathering all the small debris left behind. This program is a part of our Wellness Wednesday and we will also talk about the benefits of being active and spending time in nature. We will target different parts of the refuge every week. Meet at the Visitor and Education Center parking lot for safety brief and we will travel to the cleanup site of the week. The refuge will provide the gloves, bags, and grabbers. Additional Details:<ul><li>Limited to 20 individuals per clean up!</li><li>Come prepared in closed toe shoes, long sleeves, and ready to make a difference! </li><li> We suggest that you bring water, bug spray, a hat, sunscreen, &amp; anything else you may need to ensure your protection from Florida&#x27;s typical climate.</li><li>Need to cancel your ticket? No problem. Please use the Eventbrite portal to do so at your earliest convenience. With any questions please call the Ranger Katy at (239) 218-9270.</li></ul>N﻿OTE! You must be able to access the refuge and Sanibel for this clean up! We will not be transporting any one over the causeway at this time.
