The Sound Room is aptly named. The focus is on the sound or the music. Unlike clubs where the performance may be peripheral to the experience, at the Sound Room the performance is the experience.  We are an all-ages listening room. We exist to present great music and promote jazz as an art form.The Sound Room is the home of Bay Area Jazz & Arts, a  501(c)3 non-profit organization focused on promoting the Arts.

Noel Jewkes is one of the premier saxophone players in Northern California. Known as Dr. Legato, “Legato,” because fans regard him as the master of smooth, he’s the “ghost of Lester Young.”  He’s the saxman’s saxman, particularly for aficionados of Bebop. Noel has recorded with John Hendricks, Wesla Whitfield, Mary Stallings, Paula West, Mike Greensill, Lavay Smith, Bill Bell, Mimi Fox, Graham Bruce, Bobbe Norris, Larry Dunlap, Larry Vuckovich, Pat Yankee and Jerry Hahn, as well as his own ensembles.Playing with him will be:Keith Saunders pianoOllie Dudeck bassDave Rokeach drumsKay Kostoupolos vocalsWhat a band!
