Develop a pitch that will help you grow your business and get the attention of investors!

The National Coalition of 100 Black Women Phoenix Metropolitan Chapter Presents &quot;Fashion Your Pitch&quot;This session will teach you how to pitch your ideas to customers and investors, build your value proposition, and level up your business!This workshop will commence as two breakout sessions. Breakout Session 1: Team members of Arizona State University&#x27;s J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute (Alexa Ruona and Kristin Slice)This session is designed for youth ages 5-17 who want to change their concepts to cash. Youth participants will be able to walk away prepared to craft their story and to pitch their ideas to community stakeholders and investors. This session is open to all youth ages 5-17. However, this session is required for all who are eligible and plan to participate in &quot;Pitch Perfect&quot; for a chance to win $1000 from Afro Unicorn. B﻿reakout Session 2: Felicia Davis, Founder and CEO, Black Women&#x27;s CollectiveAs a business owner, it is critically important that you understand the needs of your market in order to build a sustainable business that can survive and thrive in any economy. Aspiring and existing entrepreneurs will leave the Fashion Your Pitch Workshop with an understanding of the decision-making process of a buyer, the key principles of psychology for positioning their pitch and the distinctions between a business plan, pitch deck and an elevator pitch and when each one is used. Participants will also learn the importance of having and articulating a powerful value proposition that pulls them out of a sea of sameness and gets them chosen over their peers. I﻿t&#x27;s time to Level-Up your business and actualize those ideas to cash!

Alexa Ruona, Senior Program Coordinator, Peoria Forward, J. Orin Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation InstituteAlexa Ruona, Program Coordinator Sr. Peoria Forward. She received her bachelor&#x27;s degree in Human and Family Development with a minor in Social Work and her masters degree in Elementary Education, both from ASU. Previously, Alexa was a second grade teacher and worked in the public education system for eight years. As part of the Edson Entrepreneurship + Innovation Institute team, she serves as a Senior Program Coordinator for the Peoria Forward program, a joint initiative between the Edson E+I Institute and the City of Peoria. In her role with Peoria Forward, she coordinates and brainstorms ways to successfully execute ideas within the community. She also works with local entrepreneurs to connect and grow the local area to help ideas come to life.To Alexa, entrepreneurship means following your passions and dreams even when it&#x27;s scary or hard to get out of your comfort zone. It means that no one is ever done growing and changing and we are all able to learn something new each day.Education

Kristin Slice, Director of Community Entrepreneurship for Edson E+IAs the Director of Community Entrepreneurship for Edson E+I, Kim helps develop local entrepreneurial ecosystems and supports the activation of the place-based innovation spaces network. Kristin is a community builder working with entrepreneurs and community partners to create thriving entrepreneurial ecosystems. She has led several transformative ecosystem-building projects in a diversity of communities. She is an alum of ASU and has a master's in organizational communications from Texas A&amp;M. Felicia Davis, Founder and CEO, Black Women's CollectiveFelicia Davis is an author, award-winning leadership coach, speaker and advisor to women leaders. She’s a former HR executive and the CEO and Founder of The Black Women’s Collective. Known for her one-of-a-kind, no non-sense approach to empowering leaders, Felicia’s knowledge, skills and expertise have been leveraged by companies such as Schwab, Universal Music, SRP, Take The Lead, T-Mobile and Pepperdine University. Felicia has a firm belief that all success is orchestrated and you must earn the right to lead.She is a recipient of the prestigious 2020 Martin Luther King ‘Living the Dream’ Award and the impact of her work has featured in The Wall Street Journal and various other media outlets. She’s married to her husband of 28 years, they have three adult children and she surprisingly turned down an invitation to be on The Oprah Winfrey Show. Felicia also admits to having an unhealthy obsession with fashion, reality tv and gelato!
