"48 Hours in Depere, Wisconsin" Zine Release and Panel Discussion
Overview
Join us for a special evening celebrating the Los Angeles debut of artist Deshion Edward's zine and installation — a vibrant continuation of his creative journey from New York City to LA.
This special edition features 54 pages of original content with 8 new pages shot and created in Los Angeles, reflecting the city’s energy, generosity, and artistic openness.
“I’ve been welcomed into this city with open arms and so many opportunities,” says McKinley. “It feels freeing and fun to share my creations with everyone.”
The event will include a panel discussion hosted by:
- Marie Heilich — Los Angeles–based writer-curator examining artists’ idiosyncratic drives and relational logics.
- Nasir Grissom — Artist and historian exploring the intimacy of vernacular photo archives, memory, and spirituality.
- Jabari Wimbley — Textile and photography artist whose work reimagines portraiture through material, memory, and inheritance.
Following the discussion, enjoy a short film screening by Jacob Parramena, Brandon Romero Mena, and Deshion Edward, offering an intimate look into the creative process behind this project.
Come experience this dynamic intersection of zine, installation, film, and conversation — a heartfelt offering from one community to another.
