Nell has been a Certified Nurse-Midwife since completing the program at State University of New York in 1986. She was in practice for nearly two decades before she received her Master of Science degree in Midwifery in 2003 from Philadelphia University.Nell’s passion is bridging the gap between practice and theory. Her focus is ensuring women have access to the benefits of high quality midwifery care in every birth setting and across the continuum of perinatal and women’s health services.Nell is the original author ofClinical Practice Guidelines for Midwifery and Women’s Health, now in it’s 5th edition.What does she love about teaching? This 2-day Midwife Workshop strengthens  midwives foundational suturing skills and explores new ways of performing repairs.

Intimate Coastal Maine Setting

This in-person midwifery retreat combines focused learning with good food, lots of discussion, all in a stellar setting on the rocky coast of Maine. 11 CE ACNM specialty credit Program # 2021-154 through 1-18-2024The retreat has 3 sessions that build on each other and provide time for practice, connecting with other participants, and enjoying time for rest and reflection. Session content is designed to expand each participant’s suturing skills, explore new ways (and whys!) of performing repairs, and discuss the clinical challenges of repairs encountered in practice. The schedule allows participants to build their technical and creative skills for assessing and approximating tissues. To ensure everyone gets individualized mentoring, workshops are limited to 6 participants. The core workshop runs from 9am-5pm Friday &amp; Saturday. Midwives can stay on site or commute from nearby Boothbay Harbor. All participants are welcomed Thursday after 4 pm for a casual get together. Accommodations with On Site tickets are provided in Nell's home. Departure is Sunday by 10 am (3-nights). There are two private rooms and one double room all with shared bath. Rooms are reserved exclusively for Retreat Participants. *******************************************The retreat begins with a Welcome Gathering Thursday evening and ends on Sunday Morning.Day One begins with Session One: Knot-tying and Suturing followed by an afternoon session of Case Reviews, model making and a group gathering for dinner. Day Two begins with Session Two: Repair of Birth Lacerations which is followed by practice, simulation, and more Case Review discussion.For everyone's well-being, Covid-19 vaccination is required by all participants. Please attest to your vaccination status upon registration and email a copy of your vaccination card to confirm your registration. <h3>Tickets</h3>We are committed to increasing the representation of midwives, both as a profession through membership in our professional associations, and by creating a profession as diverse as the people we serve. <ul><li>Discounts are available on full price tickets for ACNM and NACPM members (10%), for Midwives of Color (15%).
