Where past meets present!King Manor Museum is the historic home of founding father, Rufus King, diplomat and framer of the United States Constitution. Added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974, King Manor continues to host numerous seasonal festivals, family programs and classical music concerts year round. Learn about queerness in the museum, discuss queer floriography, and paint your own rainbow Victorian salt dough ornament!

Happy Pride Month!For our arts &amp; crafts, we will be designing rainbow salt dough heart ornaments popularized in the Victorian Era! We will also be discussing the symbolism of flowers for queer folks in the Victorian Era (floriography).While King Manor Museum does not have concrete evidence of queer inhabitants, stop by and learn about “Looking for Queer Possibility in the Museum” by Margaret Middleton. Copies of the booklet will be available for visitors. Take it on a tour of the museum and see if you can identify queerness in the King Family!Hands On History is a FREE family program series held each first and third Saturday of the month at King Manor from 1-4pm.More about Middleton’s “Looking for Queer Possibility in the Museum:”“Inspired by my article, Queer Possibility, this booklet is designed for LGBTQ museum visitors to tap into their own queer expertise to find queer connections at any museum, despite the fact that most museums still don't interpret queer content.”
