Cell therapy is based on ground-breaking scientific discoveries and various technological advancements. It targets various diseases at the cellular level by restoring a certain cell population as carriers of therapeutic cargo, such as HSC transplantation for blood disorder and cancers, CAR-T based cancer treatments, stem cell-based spinal cord injuries, et al, has has a huge market word-wide. Nowadays, FDA, EMA, cFDA and other regulatory agencies developed, and are developing various guidelines and laws to regulate cell therapies. We are very honored to invite Dr. Chris Xu, Chairmans/CEOs of several public and private cell based therapeutics companies and Dr. Wenbin Deng, Professor in Stem Cell Biology and Dean of College of Pharmaceutical Science (ShenZhen) in Sun Yat Sen University, as our speakers in the “Cell Therapy Seminar”. They will share their experiences and observations in cell therapy and help the attendee to understand the cutting edges as well as the most promising products.
1. Topic: Opportunities and challenges facing cell-based therapeutics

Chris Xu 许晓椿, Ph.D., Founder & Chairman, Boyalife Group
Dr. Xu has served on Cesca’s Board of Directors since March 2016, and was appointed chairman and interim chief executive officer in November 2016. He brings to Cesca over 15 years of leadership experience in the biopharmaceutical industry and has contributed to numerous successful product launches. In 2009, Dr. Xu founded Boyalife Group, a China-based diversified life sciences holding company and is currently the principal shareholder of Cesca. Prior to founding Boyalife, Dr. Xu served as a project leader at Pfizer, as a director of research at two publicly-traded companies and as a vice president at Founder Group, a Chinese technology conglomerate focused on information technology, pharmaceuticals, real estate, finance, and commodities trading. Dr. Xu’s expertise spans several diverse therapeutic areas, including arthritis & inflammation, cardiovascular disease, autoimmunity, oncology and diabetes. He has authored over forty publications and has been recognized by numerous professional societies for his contributions to biomedical research. Dr. Xu received his Ph.D. in immunology from Washington University School of Medicine (St. Louis, USA) and an executive MBA from Emory University (Atlanta, USA).

<P STYLE="margin: 0px; padding: 0px; max-width: 100%; clear: both; min-height: 1em; color: #3e3e3e; font-family: 'Helvetica Neue', Helvetica, 'Hiragino Sans GB', 'Microsoft YaHei', Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 14px; box-sizing: border-box !important; word-wrap: break-word !important;">长期从事神经胶质细胞及干细胞研究和药物研发，在干细胞及创新药物研究领域，利用多学科交叉的优势，使用高通量分析方法筛选疾病和药效的生物标记物，然后结合分子生物学验证，进一步用临床人源样品重现，并进行临床转化和新药研发，将为神经系统疾病患者带来治愈的曙光。采用诱导多能性干细胞研究人类神经系统疾病，包括胚胎干细胞及诱导性多能干细胞定向分化、体外细胞鉴定、动物移植和体内功能评价，再生医学以及药物筛选和新药开发。特别值得一提的是，最近开发了一种利用小分子化合物诱导获得具有快速分化能力的人类神经干细胞的新技术，获得的病人来源的人类诱导神经干细胞可以分化为多种神经元和神经胶质细胞，用于包括人类大脑三维模型构建在内的多种组织工程学研究，构建3D大脑结构以便探索脑组织形成、发育和神经回路、功能网络形成，并用于药物筛试和新药开发。已发表具有一定影响的学术论文89篇，申请专利6项，从2006年起任美国国立卫生研究院等基金会的评审专家，以及多种重要国际期刊的审稿人，曾担任过多个国际会议的大会程序委员会主席、组委会主席，主编《干细胞系列研究》一书，参与了多部医学教材的编写工作，获得美国国立卫生研究院等单位15个基金项目。
