Specialty producers and those who have an interest in supporting local foods in the Northeast region of South Dakota, are encouraged to register for this event. This is open for SDSPA members and non members. The focus of this event is networking, and providing an opporutnity to explore aggregation. Aggregation can come in many forms- food hubs, multi-farm CSAs, Co-ops, combining a single product to reach buyers, pooling products or carpooling products to connect with a restaurant, retailer, or institution (such as nursing home, school, hospital). This meeting may result in producers looking to explore the development of a new aggregation opportunity in their region, or simply better utilize something already happening. 4-5:15: Registration- Please write a check for $19.99 to Dakota Butcher for meal cost4:30- optional bonus session presented by Dr. Rhoda Burrows, SDSU Extension, on Food Safety Considerations for Farm Food Safety Considerations for Wholesale Production. This will look at FSMA &amp; GAPs programs, how farm food safety plans fit in, and resources for education &amp; implementation.5:30- Welcome &amp; introductions5:45- SDSU Extension Community Vitality Field Specialist will be facilitating a participant-focused discussion on challenges and opportunities for production, aggregation and marketing in your region. 6:30- Meal breakPresentations of current aggregators <ul><li>Dakota Fresh Food Hub </li><li>Natural Abundance Food Coop</li><li>Coteau Community Market </li><li>Others?</li></ul>7:00- Wrap up regional needs assessment- setting the next steps.Out of respect for travel time, we will make every effort to wrap up by 7:30, although attendees are welcome to stay and continue networking and conversation as desired. In addition to networking, you’ll be able to enjoy a great meal from Dakota Butcher. Please bring a check for $19.99 written to Dakota Butcher for your meal of Beef Tips, Creamy Chicke Breasts, Mashed Potatoes, Glazed Carrots and a Dinner Roll.
