<h1>Welcome! </h1><h2>Thank you for joining us for our one-day intensive workshop!</h2><ul><li>Friday, December 9, 2022</li><li>Doors open at 10:45 AM  (New York City time) </li><li>Workshop begins  at 11:00 AM </li><li>Registration closes Monday, December 5, 2022</li></ul><h3><em><strong>Please Note:</strong></em></h3><ul><li>You will receive friendly reminders and the Zoom link in the week prior to Friday, December 9th, 2022 (New York time).  </li><li>Prior to the workshop, thank you for kindly checking your Zoom account for software updates and testing your computer&#x27;s audio and video quality. </li><li>All our events are realized by our members, which means that we do not have technical support. </li></ul><h2>Workshop Description: </h2><p><strong>We are excited that this year&#x27;s HumanDHS workshop will be an opportunity to develop plans for the World Dignity University initiative (WDUi).</strong></p><p>By putting dignity at the heart of learning, the WDUi aims to become a global role model of excellence in scholarship, dignifying dialogue, and intellectual cooperation across disciplines, institutions, communities, and national boundaries, while putting dignity at the heart of learning! </p><p>We look forward to cultivating ongoing conversations that lead to ideas for action that  will realize the full potential and  intentions of the WDUi.</p>

<h3><strong></strong></h3><h3><strong>In addition to lively conversation and collaboration, highlights of this workshop will include: </strong></h3><ul><li><a href="https://sps.columbia.edu/faculty/peter-t-coleman-phd" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Peter Coleman</strong></a><strong>,</strong> director of the <a href="https://icccr.tc.columbia.edu/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Morton Deutsch-International Center for Cooperation and Conflict Resolution</a> (MD-ICCCR), will introduce his approach to creating constructive change by overcoming toxic polarization: <a href="https://www.thewayoutofpolarization.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong><em>The Way Out</em></strong></a><strong><em>.</em></strong></li></ul><ul><li><a href="https://www.humiliationstudies.org/whoweare/board04.php#yamada" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>David Yamada</strong></a><strong>,</strong> HumanDHS Board Director and Director of the WDUi, will facilitate a <strong><em>Workshop Within a Workshop — Non-Degree Higher and Adult Education to Advance Human Dignity.</em></strong></li></ul><ul><li><a href="https://www.humiliationstudies.org/whoweare/annualmeeting/NYparticipants.php#spalthoff" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Uli Spathoff</strong></a><strong>,</strong> Director of Operations, will offer a practical introduction to the WDUi electronic learning platform for educators who wish to get more involved, offering their knowledge as a gift.</li></ul><ul><li><a href="https://www.humiliationstudies.org/whoweare/evelin.php" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Evelin Lindner</strong></a><strong>,</strong> HumanDHS Founding President, and <a href="https://www.humiliationstudies.org/whoweare/linda.php" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Linda Hartling</strong></a><strong>, </strong>HumanDHS Director,  will be framing this event through a dialogue on <strong><em>Learning for a Dignified and Dignifying Future.</em></strong></li></ul><ul><li><a href="https://www.humiliationstudies.org/whoweare/michaelbritton.php" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><strong>Michael Britton</strong></a><strong>,</strong> HumanDHS Board Director, will be sharing his inspirational reflections on <strong><em>Rediscovering the Wonders of Learning through Dignity</em></strong><strong>.</strong></li></ul><h3><em><strong>For the latest updates on this event, please visit our </strong></em><a href="https://www.humiliationstudies.org/whoweare/annualmeeting/38.php" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer"><em><strong>workshop website</strong></em></a><em><strong> regularly! </strong></em></h3><h3><em><strong></strong></em></h3><h3><em><strong></strong></em></h3>

<h2>More About the WDU Initiative</h2><p>The WDUi  is a project of the <a href="https://www.humiliationstudies.org/index.php" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Human Dignity and Humiliation Studies (HumanDHS)</a> network. </p><p>The WDUi wishes to create a mutually beneficial community of educators and learners that supports the personal growth and intellectual development of all involved. We like to think of the experience of the WDU initiative as a gift to the world. The many benefits of this initiative, especially for the educators involved, include:</p><ul><li>It provides a one-of-a-kind platform for global learning in a diverse community of learners and scholars,</li><li>It brings global attention to the important work of educators who put dignity at the center of learning,</li><li>It provides the opportunity for practical training in online learning, dignifying leadership, and facilitating  dialogue across disciplines and national boundaries, and</li><li> It provides the opportunity for mutual support within a community of dignity-minded people from diverse backgrounds and experience.</li></ul>
