A documentary film illustrating the necessity of public arts in the community by the artists who make it happen.

The film explores its themes of creative process, public space and community engagement through interviews with artists in a variety of different media, from city murals to dance choreography, sculpture and installation. Following the film screening, there will be a discussion with director Weiying Olivia Huang and ﻿Producer Eric Benson Taylor.Weiying Olivia Huang(Producer/Director)An award winning documentary filmmaker. Her documentary ‘City as Canvas: Above the Free Walls’ won the Best Human Interest Documentary at the World Premiere Film Awards in 2020, and a winner of the Best New England Documentary at Shawna Shea Film Festival in 2021, and was screened internationally a dozen of other film festivals. Her previous documentary ‘The Last Sacred Place of Poetry(2017)’ has likewise been screened at many film festivals, libraries and universities. She holds a master's degree in Digital Media from Northeastern University. Eric Benson Taylor(Producer/Composer)A film producer and music composer. He is the producer of the City as Canvas: Above the Free Walls, Turning The Page and Art In Public, and a multi-instrumentalist who has released music as The Dystopian Rhythms &amp; performed on global stages from Paris to Belgrade, Chicago, Boston, and San Francisco.
