<h1>Advanced ticket sales have ended but tickets will be available at the door for $10. </h1><p>Join the <a href="https://www.bikemn.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Bicycle Alliance of Minnesota</a>, <a href="https://moveminneapolis.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Move Minneapolis</a>, <a href="https://www.movemn.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Move Minnesota</a>, <a href="http://www.culturalwellnesscenter.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">The Cultural Wellness Center</a> and <a href="https://www.ourstreetsmpls.org/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Our Streets Minneapolis</a> for a film screening and discussion with director<strong> Yolanda Davis-Overstreet </strong>:</p><p>Biking While Black is a 2-series short documentary film centering on the daily experiences that Black lives encounter while bicycling. The first short film (9 minutes) Biking While Black: HOW SAFE ARE BLACK LIVES BICYCLING? was released in September 2021 by community organizer and mobility justice advocate, Yolanda Davis-Overstreet, and her team. And the second short (29.09 minutes) was released in September 2022 – Biking While Black: CONTINUING TO RIDE THROUGH DECRIMINALIZATION, DISENFRANCHISEMENT, AND GENTRIFICATION.</p><p>The duo-short films center around the existing mobility and racial justice issues, while uplifting Black bicyclists, catalyzing partnerships among mobility justice advocates, and thoughtfully addresses local experiences. The film’s narrative increases understanding of planning issues in Los Angeles by centering the question “How safe are Black lives while cycling?” Residents and mobility justice advocates share raw and personal experiences as well as data in this film to illustrate the deep need for planning processes rooted in racial justice.</p><h3>Discussion with director Yolanda Davis-Overstreet will accompany the screening. Stick around for the afterparty at Town Hall Tap.</h3><p>This event will follow current CDC COVID-19 guidelines;<strong> masking is strongly encouraged</strong>. Masks and hand sanitizer will be available. Please be aware of comfort and risk-levels in an indoor environment.</p><h3>Take sustainable transportation</h3><p>Ride your bike!<strong> </strong>Look for details on group rides to the screening and expanded bicycle parking.</p><p>Take the bus!  <a href="https://www.metrotransit.org/route/5" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">Route 5</a> will take you steps away from the theater. Come back 3 days later to check out the opening of the new <a href="https://www.metrotransit.org/d-line-project" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">D line bus rapid transit line</a>.</p><p>Street parking is available in the neighborhood surrounding The Parkway.
