CulturalDC has made a name for itself in providing a platform for bold contemporary artists to interact with audiences in thought-provoking ways. Previous exhibitions include “Ivanka Vacuuming” by Jennifer Rubell, “THIS IS NOT A DRILL” by Jefferson Pinder, and “Mighty, Mighty” by Devan Shimoyama. CulturalDC owns Source Theatre and a 40-ft shipping container transformed into a Mobile Art Gallery. Ritual II - Performance art by Safra Tadesse &amp; JouletrixNovember 12, 7-9 PM, S﻿ource Theatre, 1835 14th St NW, Washington, DC 20009Safra Tadesse is a Curator/Artist/Activist currently as Negative.Tw3nty0ne working with the under ground art scene in Baltimore through the medium of performance art. Their mission is to direct spaces that are towards healing the minds of the collective and intending people to be more attuned to their healthy primal nature, their internal truths, and offering imaginative spaces for ones revolution to spiral upward and expand. Their studies in ritualistic offerings/sacrifices, and warriorism discuss the stories about her ancestors from personal to global understandings of totality of life. Her narrative performances, visual, audio and video expressions come from the inherent and ongoing research on mythology and indigenous practices to where she originates from.A﻿bout the Performance:Martrimonial is an esoteric project that was initiated in 2021. We designed the practice Matrimonial to welcome us into the new world order/new economy/new age. Matrimonial open up as a Fortress of knowledge that exists in the land. Matrimonial breaks down the meaning as it being our existence centers the forces of nature, equity for all beings, centers indigenous teachings based in their native community, and world building. I document personal writings behind the scenes, that consist my current states of being in relation to astronomical, primordial and ancestral influences. Journaling with words, sound and movement are the key components used to exercise points of self-reflection that help create a stable and healthy projection of world-building from within.Matrimonial focuses on Protopic ideals which means living in relation to existing in advancements of indigenous technology for our highest potential. Matrimonial discusses themes like land back, indigenous/tribal sovereignty, reconnecting with ritualistic rites, embracing chaos as a form of transformation, expanding/ challenging indigenous art practices, and relearning universal law or the “Matriarchal Code”. Matrimonial is more than just a performance piece it’s a ongoing practice that allows us to learn about how we will need to adapt into a more Earth centered lifestyle if we want to sustain our time on this planet. Matrimonial speaks about how we are in need for Black/Indigenous, Trans/Two Spirit lead, Earth based teachings through story telling as a way to remain rooted to our core principles that is shared universally. Dance, sound art and altar installations is how I was designed to communicate to the unseen world to invoke the Primordial Mother’s to usher us into the new world. Since the year 2000 we have in stepped into what occultists refer as the 24,000 year sun cycle of the divine feminine where she is in her conscious state and is activating her abilities for her to be seen, honored and respected. Where before we were in the 24,000 year moon cycle where patriarchy was at a high and she was in her moon phase being underground/underwater/unconscious. Matrimonial is here to implant messages to the Mothers so we can begin to reveal our individual truths which means having to endure the unearthing of suppressed knowledge that has been kept away so that we can continue to live in an illusion. This phase of life we are in now (the tail end of the Kali Yuga cycle) is the toughest part because we are witnessing the end of this patriarchal cycle which means chemical warfare, domestic attacks and spiritual battles are at a high. What Matrimonial provides during these time is to alleviate the internal wars people face on a daily bases. To facilitate a form of radical healing though ritualistic dance and sound art as a way for people to see the God in them in order to make radical changes in their lives for the better. Matrimonial is a visual, audio, and celestial medicine for everyone.

His work explores abstract hip hop and expands on traditional B-boy culture.Aaron Coleman aka J﻿ouletrixI﻿n the Artist's Words:Greeting’s my name is Aaron AKA Joule-Trix I am a street Dancer in the DC area. I was born in Ohio moved to this area as a kid. However my families roots are from Alabama and Arkansas. As a dancer I have surprisingly drew a lot of inspiration not only from other dancers such as Rashaad etc. But also films such as Alien vs Predator , Babyboy , hustle &amp; flow painters such as H.R Giger, Salvador Dali etc. Even some musicians James Brown , Son House , Electric Wizard etc. just to same a few. In my Dance I am also inspired of the truth and deep hardships of myself depression, temptations and dark history of my family’s stories , and the realities of the pain I see my people and family go through in the streets. And my goal and vision is to bring this very raw and unfiltered view to the audience and the realities even the ones that are hard to swallow. To make it simple I am simply me and my people’s worst own enemy and cry for help in the expression of movement. Does this mean I agree with all the things I express through my movement? No. But I do agree with the expression of truth of not only my struggle and flaws but my people and family as well.
