CulturalDC has made a name for itself in providing a platform for bold contemporary artists to interact with audiences in thought-provoking ways. Previous exhibitions include “Ivanka Vacuuming” by Jennifer Rubell, “THIS IS NOT A DRILL” by Jefferson Pinder, and “Mighty, Mighty” by Devan Shimoyama. CulturalDC owns Source Theatre and a 40-ft shipping container transformed into a Mobile Art Gallery. CulturalDC presents TORRENTS: New Links to Black Futures, an inaugural artist-led convergence exploring new territory in Black future-building. November 10 - 13th, multi-location event in Washington, DC.

Living Myths - Film Panel - Following Smithonian Channel&#x27;s &quot;Afrofuturism: The Origin Story&quot; by Alexis AggreyP﻿anel ParticipantsAlexis AggreyMerawi GerimaShaka KingFrom providing cultural affirmation, expressing lyrical imagery, and exploring the nuance of Black lives, Black film is a cultural cachet that has provided streams of knowledge in various genres since the 60s. As the industry expands by including new diasporic voices, the centering of new Black contexts and experiences has catalyzed ideation around Black world-building. Living Myths will investigate why film is so effective in reimagining frameworks around Black futures and how it can induce significant cultural impact that critically challenges modern notions around politics, community, and Black history.
