Sanahara Ama Chandra and Hannah Brancato are two artists and change-makers who meet in the power of collective storytelling, and the healing power of art. Our interdisciplinary creative practices enact and model ways to move from pain to power, and from isolation to collective experiences.Ama and Hannah are currently co-creatingDreamseeds, an installation of textiles, sound, and interactive components that invites current and budding activists and visionaries in Baltimore to develop visions for the future, at Gallery CA, October 7-November 11, 2022.

Join us for our next Dreamseeds workshop: Child's Play: Builders + Dreamers, featuring Future City, a child built model of the city.Dirk Joseph a multi media sculptor will lead us on a journey to unlock our imagination as we create ourselves and our community in future city.

About the Dirk Joseph, the facilitator: Dirk was born in Trinidad, grew up in NY and has called Baltimore home since 2003. For over 30 years he has worked as a visual artist, art teacher, performing artist (puppetry and theater), graphic designer, and film makerDirk founded String Theory Theater in 2016 and has been performing children and adult puppet shows with his daughters at various venues around Baltimore and on the road performing at locations such as the Detroit Museum of Art, and The Ballard Museum of Puppetry at UCONN.Dirk is currently engaged in community arts via partnerships with The Youth Resiliency Institute, and Free Up Village Homeschool Coop, and other organizations.About the exhibition: Move Slowly: Dreamseeds is on view at Gallery CA, at 440 E Oliver St, from October 21-November 18. Move Slowly: Dreamseeds is a visionary exhibition and community healing space, co-created by Hannah Brancato and Sanahara Ama Chandra. This community healing space and art exhibit features visual and sound “portraits” of five anti-sexual violence activists: Ignacio Rivera, Jadelynn St Dre, Alexis Flanagan, Sanahara Ama Chandra, and Nuala Cabral; and workshop participants from a series of five community workshops in Baltimore. These pieces create a heart filling homage to those who are dreaming and fighting their way into freedom, and a roadmap to help us head in that direction.Dreamseeds is a space to honor our visions for the future. Co-created by Sanahara Ama Chandra and Hannah Brancato, we started from a place of understanding that, from all of our individual and collective experiences ranging from our points of pain to our points of bliss, we have inside of us sparks of ideas that are the seeds with which we can co-create a new world.
