AIA Yoshi Jimenez was born in Mexico City, to parents of indigenous descent from the Mixtec region of the state of Oaxaca in southern Mexico. Her family immigrated to the U.S. when she was 4 years old and have lived mostly in Santa Maria.Yoshi attended Allan Hancock College before transferring to Cal Poly San Luis Obispo where she received her B.Arch in 2014. She has almost 9 years of experience focusing primarily on affordable housing projects. She is also an active member of the AIA California Central Coast chapter, serving on the Board of Directors as the Associates Director since 2021. Yoshi&#x27;s favorite way to spend her time is just hanging out with her family - enjoying family meals, reading, baking, cooking, and going wine tasting. Although she&#x27;s an introvert, she is motivated to join larger group settings when events are aimed at providing support/resources to children and students in her community. She is also interested in encouraging students to pursue higher education as it is one of the most important elements for improving children’s futures, so she often volunteers at community events that aim to expand access to youth programs.
