The Art League's October Solo Artist Raymond Burns discusses his artistry and exhibit "Working on the Railroad".

Locomotives, box cars, and cabooses are the focus of "Working on the Railroad", by The Art League's October solo artist Raymond Burns. Inspired by trains he finds in working rail yards, railroad museums, and abandoned tracks in the mid-Atlantic region, Burns showcases the rugged character of the railroad in lush detail and rich color, highlighting the unique weather-worn patina of aging locomotives. S﻿ays the artist, "I find beauty in both the design and decay of these machines. My aim is not to evoke a feeling of nostalgia for the 'good old days' of railroading but to show the character of each piece as they are- machines at work, and of machines having been used and discarded, but not forgotten."Join Burns for a discussion about his exhibit and artistry via Zoom.
