The Center for Arts at the Armory is a non-profit organization that resides in a historic Armory building, serving Somerville and the Greater Boston community and beyond as an accessible and inclusive venue for the arts, cultural and community events, exhibitions, markets, classes and more.The mission of Arts at the Armory is to provide an inclusive and accessible venue that creates opportunities for artists and cultural workers, brings diverse audiences together, enriches and transforms lives, and promotes the creative economy. In addition to the many events that CAA hosts that are produced independently of CAA, CAA has five signature programs: The Spotlight Series, The Performance Opportunity Program (POP), The Somerville Winter Farmers Market, The ROOTED Armory Cafe Event Series, and ROOTED Armory Cafe Visual Arts Exhibitions. CAA curates and produces performances in the Armory Performance Hall featuring local and touring artists as part of our Spotlight Series.

Hypnotic vocals infused with fierce spirit and Puerto Rican traditions

iLe is a gifted vocal artist with a musical background in Latin and Puerto Rican music traditions. Born into a family of artists, iLe’s start was as a lead vocalist for her brother’s band, Calle 13. iLe sang when she was only 18 years old at the 8th Annual Latin Grammy Awards. Soon after iLe forged her own path with her first solo project, iLevitable, which earned a Grammy for “Best Latin Rock, Urban or Alternative Album” in 2017 and a nomination at the Latin Grammy Awards for “Best New Artist.”iLe’s second album, Almadura, combines the words “soul” and “strength,” drawing from the Puerto Rican armadura (armor). Almadura received critical acclaim in Latin and U.S. music scenes. NPR lauded her “musical stands against injustice and inequality, [and] passionate statements about cultural pride.” BillBoard described iLe’s newest tracks as “ambient electronic sounds layered with old-school tropical styles and rhythms.”Be swept away by iLe’s free-wheeling vocals and intimate storytelling on March 4 as part of the Arts at the Armory’s Spotlight Series.Arts at the Armory Spotlight Series series puts the spotlight on local, national and international artists from diverse communities, and provides platforms that amplify these voices. The series includes music, theatre, dance, comedy, multimedia, literary and interdisciplinary arts performances that create immersive experiences sparking joy, inspiration, reflection, and intercultural learning.Tickets to Arts at the Armory Spotlight Series performances are non-refundable after purchase.
