The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center Inc. (The Clemente) is a Puerto Rican/Latino cultural institution that has demonstrated a broad-minded cultural vision and a collaborative philosophy. While The Clemente’s mission is focused on the cultivation, presentation, and preservation of Puerto Rican and Latino culture, it is equally determined to operate in a multi-cultural and inclusive manner, housing and promoting artists and performance events that fully reflect the cultural diversity of the Lower East Side and the city as a whole.

Join us on November 5th at 4PM for a curator led tour of the exhibition See You in Florida: a Vene-Rican Odyssey with curators Roberto Weil and Miguel Trelles in our Abrazo Gallery on the 3rd floor as part of the 17th Borimix Festival edition during Puerto Rican Heritage month. <ul><li>When: Saturday, November 5th </li><li>T﻿ime: 4:00PM–5:00PM</li><li>Location: LES &amp; Abrazo Galleries at The Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural Center</li><li>Presenting the works by: Arturo Yepez-Pottier, Gary Javier, Jose L. Diaz de Villegas, Kike Estrada, Mrinali Alvarez, Juan Alvarez O’Neill, Rayma Suprani, Jorge Rafael Calderon, KEKAKO, Rene Juan de la Cruz, Jesus Ortiz Torres, Camdelafu (Camila de la Fuente), Eduardo Sanabria (EDO), JOTA LEAL, Hermann Mejia, Leonardo Rodriguez, Roberto Weil</li><li>Exhibition Dates: November 1st, 2022 - January 8th, 2023</li></ul>The exhibition curated by Manuel Nazario, Roberto Weil and Miguel Trelles, invites twenty visual artists to explore, through caricature, illustration, drawing or painting, the causes, vicissitudes, challenges and triumphs of the Puerto Rican and Venezuelan diasporas in terms of their exodus from Venezuela, Puerto Rico and New York to Florida. The Borimix 2022 art show wants to highlight how Venezuelans and Boricans have visibly increased their presence in multiple cities throughout the state of Florida. While many come to Miami directly from the towns and cities of Puerto Rico and Venezuela, others who had already settled in Manhattan, the Bronx, Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island, are leaving in increasing numbers for Kissimmee Florida, Jacksonville and other cities. It is clear that the current circumstances of departure, while sharing a certain urgency to LEAVE, reflect different discontents.

About BORIMIX:Originated in 2005 by Sociedad Educativa de las Artes, Inc. (Teatro SEA) and its Founder/Director Manuel Morán and The Clemente resident visual artist Miguel Trelles, BORIMIX Puerto Rico Fest has become the signature Puerto Rican Heritage Month event at The Clemente. The yearly visual art exhibits that have accompanied previous festivals and continue to this day are not only a key showcase for Puerto Rican visual artists in New York but also an inclusive platform for Caribbean, Latin American and a diverse contingent of participating artists from New York and all over the world. Throughout past Borimixes guest curators have reflected on and enhanced the collaborative ethos of the visual arts component as manifested by exhibits such as BoriCuba, Borinqueya, BoriMex, BoriColombia, BoriEcuador, and BoriAyiti.
