A﻿bout Janet RoseA﻿ former social justice attorney, mediator, and public policy professional turned healer, writer, and educator. Focused on teaching principles of heart-centered leadership, Janet brings her expertise to help attendees learn to create a more loving, trauma-informed world. She works with a variety of modalities from motivational interviewing to Reiki to reach people where they are to help in their leadership journey. She cares most about leveraging the lived experience of marginalized and vulnerable communities into leadership roles that prioritize their voices for the solutions their communities most need.

A #RelationshipReboot class to help build more resilient and responsive relationships when past trauma shows up.

Too many of us have stories about relationships that unintentionally triggered a past trauma. Or perhaps we were the ones that stumbled clumsily over someone else's trauma? How do we know how to proceed or what we can do to make each other feel safer? What are the gifts we can give and receive by becoming more trauma-informed lovers? That's what we'll explore in this 2-hour class we learn how to apply a trauma-informed mindset to our most intimate connections so we can both show up as a better lovers, but also be better able to receive the love offered to us. Content Warning: While my goal is to minimize retraumatization during this class because this class deals with the topics of trauma, it is anticipated that general descriptions of trauma will likely surface including topics related to intimate partner violence, childhood trauma, or the sudden loss of a loved one, etc. We will start the class by setting compassionate boundaries around these discussions, demonstrating tools we can use in our own relationships. This is a class of radical acceptance, hopeful recovery, and expressive boundaries with inclusive advice that can be applied across a spectrum of identities and relationship structures. My priority is for participants to walk away feeling empowered to communicate their needs and limits to build relationships that are resilient to societal shame, retraumatization and stigma.No matter where you are in your relationship journey, whether you currently have a partner or not, this class will provide you with tools to nurture connection while reducing the disruptions that come from unexpected reminders of past trauma. <h3>Meet your host: Janet Rose</h3>Welcome, friends! I am a proudly bisexual, disabled Chicana and professional do-gooder originally from Pueblo, Colo. After twenty years of working in public policy, law, and nonprofit, I opened Rose Connections in 2020 to share my gifts in a more authentic, accessible, and integrated way. I am here to help emerging heart-centered leaders create a more loving, just, and trauma-informed world. As a former social justice attorney, mediator, and policy advocate, law school never prepared me for how to manage the suffering I would encounter in my work. And for all my social justice training, I didn't realize how dangerously discouraging I would find it to advocate in a system that constantly inflicted so much trauma and collective harm.I once believed that the only way I could heal the world was by changing the laws or winning someone's disability case. Instead, it came through how I served people - by meeting them where they were, by connecting to our shared humanity, they knew I saw them and I sought the solutions that served what they wanted for healing.
