An Evening with Nick Adam

Nick Adam will take us behind the scenes at Span on how they renamed the so-called 'Asian carp' with State and Federal governments.

<p>In this event, Nick Adam (Design Principal at Span) will provide us the first ever, behind the scene’s view of the process working at Span with the ecologists, the Government, crisis specialist, and food industry professionals for the naming and branding of what the U.S. generically called ‘Asian carp’. This event will be moderated by a mentor of his, Rick Valicenti — Former STA president, AGI member, National Design Award recipient.</p><h2>Nick’s Bio</h2><p>Nick Adam is a strategic, values-driven design principal at Span (an internationally recognized design studio based in Chicago). Nick Adam’s work focuses on the power of identity, through which typographic details and formal maneuvers embrace qualities that are true to the entities he collaborates with. Through this work Nick Adam designs brand identities that time and again shift culture and build value. Over the past two decades, Nick has played a major role in shaping Chicago’s visual culture through collaborations with visionary clients. Nick’s most visible work is Chicago’s bicycle system, Divvy, which he led the naming and design on at Firebelly in collaboration with IDEO. Recently at Span, Nick led his team on the identity design of the nation’s first arts-programmed public park, and the exhibition design of Chicago’s largest ever Lowrider festival at Navy Pier. Nick Adam’s work has been written about in The Economist, Smithsonian Magazine,  and other global media outlets.
