PRC Nights Online: Long Exposure Photography

The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) is a vital forum for the exploration, interpretation, and celebration of new work, ideas, and methods in photography. We inspire our members and the broader community with thought-provoking exhibits, educational programs, wide-ranging resources, and unique special events that support the advancement of the photographic arts. Founded in 1976, the PRC is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that the Boston Globe has cited as “one-stop shopping for the photo buff.” The Photographic Resource Center (PRC) will not, in any circumstances, share your personal information with other individuals or organizations without your permission, including public organizations, corporations or individuals, except when applicable by law. We do not sell, communicate or divulge your information to any mailing lists.

This PRC Nights Online is focused on long exposure photography and features Douglas Breault.

<p>Long-exposure photography can also be called time-exposure, or slow-shutter photography. The process involves using a long-duration shutter speed to capture the subject/s with an increased amount of light or with the intention of blurring, smearing, or obscuring the moving elements. Featured photographer, Douglas Breault, is an interdisciplinary artist who overlaps elements of photography, painting, sculpture, and video to merge spaces both real and imagined. His long-exposure photography does not use any digital manipulation. It presents imagery such as clouds, candles, and wilting plants to reference ideas of heaven and mark passages of time. Three additional photographers will be sharing their work: Sean Sullivan, Leah Abrahams, and Robert Knight</p>
