Learn water-wise landscape design to help you develop a waterwise landscape for your personal property.

<p>Landscape design can be intimidating, especially in arid climates where water is scarce. This workshop provides a step-by-step process to help you understand your property, develop a program and function within your landscape, and finally create a landscape plan for your property.</p><p>This workshop will begin with you taking of a series of online modules and assignments to help you initiate the analysis portion of the design process. The workshop will conclude with a multi-day, in-person, hands-on experience where you will work on a design for your own property. The intent is to help you experience the design process and aid you in developing water-wise landscape design solutions for your property. The class will be taught by Utah State University Extension faculty experienced in waterwise landscape design and implementation.</p><p>At the conclusion of this course, students will have an understanding of the landscape design process, techniques for developing water-wise landscape design solutions, and will have created a landscape design for their personal property.</p><p>The course consists of online modules and a 1.5 day in-person workshop. The course should <em><strong><strong>only</strong></strong></em> be taken if the participant is committed to completing the online modules and can fully attend all of the in-person workshop days. The cost of the course covers your attendance to the in-person workshop, lunch at the workshop and access to the online modules.</p><h4><strong><strong>Overall Workshop Agenda:</strong></strong><br>Online Workshop Portion</h4><ul><li>January 16, 2026- Participants are given access to the online modules and the workbook.</li><li>January 20, 2026 -7:00 pm - Virtual group check-in meeting to review online content structure and expectations</li><li>February 18, 2026 - 7:00 pm - Virtual group check-in meeting to review completed online module assignments</li></ul><h4>In-Person Workshop Portion</h4><p><em><em>Friday, February 27, 2026</em></em></p><ul><li>6:00-6:15 - Introduction and Welcome </li><li>6:15-6:30 Review the design process </li><li>6:30-7:00 – Adapting your Site Analysis and Functional Diagram to a Concept Plan</li><li>7:00-7:15 - Break </li><li>7:15-8:30- Studio Time (working and receiving desk critiques) Goal: Develop 3 Concept Plans </li><li>8:30-9:00 Share Concept Plans and Prepare for Saturday </li></ul><p><br></p><p><em><em>Saturday, February 28, 2026</em></em></p><ul><li>8:00-8:05 – Welcome Back</li><li>8:05-8:30 – Introduction to Graphic Communication</li><li>8:30-8:45 – Commit to a Concept Plan</li><li>8:45-9:00 Form study demonstration</li><li>9:00-10:30 Studio Time and Desk Critiques- Create 3 form studies</li><li>10:30-12:00 - Creating Outdoor Rooms and Grading to Utilize Water</li><li>Lunch – 12:00-12:30</li><li>12:30-12:45 Form study to Schematic Plan Overview</li><li>12:45-1:30 Planting design (45 min)</li><li>1:30- 4:00 Schematic Development</li><li>4:00-4:30 Implementation</li><li>4:45-5:00 Conclusion</li></ul><p><br></p><h1></h1><h1><br></h1>
