Join us on Saturday, November 5th for a fall/winter clothing swap at Starta! Freshen up your wardrobe for Fall and meet the trendsetters of sustainable fashion! Gift your clothes a second chance at life by swapping them with someone else. We will be hosting a panel discussion on sustainable fashion followed by a clothing swap.<h3>How does the swap work?</h3><li>Bring clothes, shoes, handbags, and other accessories that you’re looking to swap Please ensure that your items are clean and intact (e.g., not torn). You can bring female &amp; male clothes </li><ul><li>Check in with your items at our welcome desk. You will be given a swap ticket for each item you brought. There’s a limit of 20 items per person.</li><li>Check out with your new pieces! If you have any leftover tickets you can use them for our next swap (Spring 2023)</li><li>Y﻿ou can bring items anytime between 2-6 pm</li></ul>Where do the leftover items go? We will work with our partners to either donate the items or make sure they are properly recycled.

Inspired by fairytales, mythology, and folklore, he allows his found objects’ stories to inform their transformation. The most notable example is his line of handmade raincoats made entirely from umbrellas rescued from the streets of New York City.Based in Dumbo, the Brooklyn Sewing Academy is an educational and creative center designed to achieve your sewing goals and make your creative dreams a reality. We specialize in textiles and sewing related specialties. Our community of educators can develop and enhance the sewing skills of weekend warriors and industry professionals alike, for everyone age 9 and up. Jigisha Patel, Founder &amp; Creative Director at <a href="https://www.bellamews.com/" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">BELLA MEWS</a>Jigisha&#x27;s world has always consisted of creativity. Having grown up with both parents working in Montreal’s garment district, she was tinkering with fabrics from a young age. Trained in the fine arts, she stumbled into a few roles in the fashion world which gave her a lens into the reality of the behind the scenes. She then went on to pursue a career in advertising &amp; design for nearly a decade. It was about the time that her daughter was born that Jigisha had decided to make a career shift. Having gathered an abundance of inspiration from having lived in multiple cities around the world, she decided that rather than creating for others, she yearned to create her own brand — one that reflected her passions and style. Combining her love of Indian fabrics with her knowledge in design sketched the way for Bella Mews. Working exclusively with preloved fabrics, to be given a new life is her answer to creating a responsible brand; one that her two girls could look up to and take pride in.
