Ride bikes - make friends - learn the latest in sea level rise news in the South Bay Area

Baylands Park

T﻿he high tides of today are the regular tides of tomorrow. Ride bikes with SVBC and community partners to see the King Tide and the South Bay Shoreline Protection Project in Alviso, CA. This is an easy and slow 4-mile round trip bike ride suitable for beginners. This event is a wonderful opportunity to learn in-person about how leadership of the South Bay area is responding to the threat of rising sea levels. You won&#x27;t want to miss it!<h3>F﻿eeder Rides:</h3>S﻿an José - Meet at Park Station Hashery - roll at 9:00 with ACTC! <a href="https://actc.org/ridestats/calendar/show_ride.php?ride_id=27315" target="_blank" data-msys-clicktrack="0" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">See more info</a>Santa Clara - Betsy Megas from the Santa Clara Local Team will will lead a pre-ride to Baylands Park, via the San Tomas Aquino Creek Trail. All are welcome to join! Meet at 9am at the front entrance to the Santa Clara Central Park Library, 2635 Homestead Road, Santa Clara, or hop on at Eddie Souza Park at Monroe and San Tomas. At the end of the event, Betsy will also lead a post-ride from Baylands Park back to Central Park. Please note, there will be a game at Levi&#x27;s Stadium, so the trail detour may be in effect.<h3>E﻿vent Agenda:</h3>- 10:00 AM - The event begins at Baylands Park, Sunnyvale. - 10:30 AM - Presentations from partners ~11:00 AM - Depart on our bike ride to Alviso Marina County Park to visit the active construction site of the South Bay Shoreline Protection Project. ~12:30 PM - Ride back to Baylands Park, arriving by 1 PM. Community Partners have been confirmed! Please expect informational presentations from:<ul><li>U﻿S Army Corps of Engineers</li><li>V﻿alley Water</li><li>S﻿outh Bay Salt Pond Restoration Project</li><li>M﻿others Out Front</li></ul> If your organization focuses on climate change, sea level rise, climate resiliency, wetlands habitat, or other climate-related South Bay initiatives, please consider attending!Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition staff will provide free bike safety checks, helmet fitting, free bike lights, offer light bike repair, and run a safe, supportive, family-friendly group ride along the Bay Trail from Baylands Park to Alviso Marina County Park.
