After the 2022 debut book launched of Jamoji—Essays of Life and Play in Jamaica, a collection of nonfiction essays exploring my childhood and adulthood as a Jamaican, growing up on the island and migrating to the US. And also how the culture, teachings, habits, rituals, and media culminated in a better understanding and appreciation for our multifaceted identity. With the unpredictability of the last two plus years I missed an official launch party, but it’s ok because it will be in JAMAICA and YOU&#x27;RE INVITED!What makes this book launch special is that it is also a fundraiser for Bridgeport Primary School in Portmore, St Catherine. I am committed to PLAY and access to play. In the book cover dedication I shared that a part of Jamoji book proceeds will go to Bridgeport Primary. Specifically, building a playground for the school. Which is special to me because it&#x27;s the only school my sisters and I all attended while living in Jamaica and it is my honor to give back to where it all started. All ticket sales include custom Jamoji tote, Island style hors d&#x27;oeuvres &amp; open bar.The average budget for school playground equipment is $1,000 per child. Bridgeport primary has 150 students, with roughly 50 students accessing the playground at any given time.
