On the fourth Friday of each month we open up our doors to local jazz musicians and vocalist to share their sounds.

Jazz Night with Michael Hawkins &amp; the Brotherhood , VIP Table Reservations. Enjoy a night of jazz with the best seats in the house! We have four-top cafe tables and two-top cocktail tables. Limited tables available, but admission to the event is free. Grab a table to enjoy your night, have a homebase for your crew, a place to keep your drinks/snacks, and these funds go towards supporting the artists on stage! And now: we allow table reservations to grab a bottle of wine from the bar to share with their table! Skip the many trips back to the bar, close that tab, and grab one of our awesome specialty wines selected by InWine for the month. Come early, 5-8pm to taste before you buy, with Megan Holland giving you details in history of each bottle and maker on offer.Michael Hawkins is a versatile and well-rounded virtuoso Jazz bassist, playing and writing in multiple sub-genres and on both acoustic and electric bass.Four top cafe tables available at $40 - seats 4Two top cocktail tables available at $20 - seats 2________________________________________________________Hawkins has recorded and toured extensively with acclaimed pianist Cyrus Chestnut who sites Hawkins as a member of his primary group (http://www.cyruschestnut.net/frames/bio_frame.html).He resides permanently in Richmond, Virginia with his wife and children. He performs frequently with several local groups and artists, such as Sketches, under the leadership of guitarist Gene Pendleton. As of this writing, he recently performed in the 2014 Richmond Jazz Festival with local trumpet player Victor Haskins.Gallery5 is a 501c3 non profits arts organization devoted to engaging communities through the arts. ART AUCTION with Markis Bowers-Dunlap : Markis Bowers-Dunlap is a well-known artist from Newport News, Virginia. Markis currently paints on canvas and large murals. A Fine Arts major from Norfolk State University, Markis paints in an abstract style, while using color as a way of expression and something that the eye will gravitate towards. Markis has numerous murals in the Hampton roads area, his artwork has been displayed at the James Wise Gallery at NSU, The Contemporary Arts Network and many more. Outside of his artwork, he also illustrates and writes children’s books. Markis also received his graduate degree from Old Dominion University where his children’s book, “Asking about Art!” was created. Children books are another way for Markis to reach the youth and help others around the world. As of today, Markis continues to create paintings that will shock you with imagery and serve as a pillar to society for generations to come!
